Adelaide desalination plant was built in 2008-2011, by a joint venture between MacDow and ABI group.
The project was significant, being able to treat 150 megalitres (ML) of water a day with a project value in the order of $1B AUD.
Initially the brief was to provide a design manager for the tender phase of the project. MacDow and ABBE then went on to win the project, the brief change to assisting with a team to kick the project off, and providing long term support to the commercial director.
In the tender phases of the project ammjohn provided a design manager for the project.
During the kickoff phase ammjohn provided a core group of versatile engineers who acted as quality manager, risk manager, assisting the commercial manager, change management and establishing a project control regime for the build. Eventually permanent staff were recruited for some of these roles.
For the execution phase of the project we maintained a smaller team on site assisting the commercial director with change management and assisting with project quality.
The Desal plant has been successfully commissioned and is currently in service.
